Smart and automated infusion therapies

In this project, Connected Consumables and its partners are researching the automation of oncological infusion therapies. The goal is to make high-risk cancer treatments safer and more efficient, while enabling future applications such as home oncology care and use in clinical trials.

The focus is on developing an innovative system for automated drug identification and administration. In addition, the project investigates how complex infusion therapies can be safely integrated into a dedicated cassette system to increase patient safety and reduce material consumption.

The research is based on a novel multi-input pump platform with a cassette system, for which initial patents have already been filed.

The aim of the project is to develop a fully digitized, automated system for oncological infusion therapies that makes high-risk treatments safer and more efficient and enables new applications such as home oncology.

At the same time, the project has the potential to fundamentally change the fragmented market, which has been dominated by large companies to date, as it is the first to pursue an integrated system approach with digital workflows – supported by the regional expertise in automation, special injection molding, and special machine construction available in Saxony.
